often hear that Cancun is a traditional destination but with enough options entertainment, nightlife, international cuisine, shopping, Caribbean islands, beaches of fine white sand, archaeological sites, sacred cenotes, jungle, Mayan communities, ecology, water sports and a variety of experiences. But for lovers of diving and snorkeling there is also an excellent new option, the new Underwater Sculpture Museum.
This museum at the bottom of the sea is a place to visit a number of sculptures that make up the Caribbean reef system.
These sculptures are works of art of human-sized sculpture designed by artist and diver Jason de Caires Taylor an Englishman who lives in CancĂșn in recent years.
aquatic Jason's work can be admired in the international waters of countries like England, India, Greece and the island Grenada.
The sculptures are made especially to create artificial reefs and for visitors to witness the natural process of how coral reef and marine plants will adhere or integrating these sculptures to create an extraordinary seascape.
new works are currently installed in the National Park West Coast of Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc. This site receives each year about 750 000 passionate Caribbean and the idea of \u200b\u200bestablishing this museum is to keep water clean and perfect reef, thereby preventing deterioration without losing the influx of divers and swimmers who come every day, attracted by these gardens that come alive.
The Underwater Sculpture Museum home since last November the first sculptures as "The Dream Collector" , where you will see a man at his desk, surrounded by bottles with messages Good Hope, along him a sleeping dog, its guardian, also see the "Burning Man" where corals are attached to a man who seems to fire out of the body but they are actually water plants. On the other hand this "The Planter of Hope , a girl who contemplates a series of pots containing natural coral reefs that were rescued from storm-damaged or human activities.
This fascinating museum is surrounded by marine gardens, pristine waters, plants and colorful fish characteristic of the Mexican Caribbean who stroll among the sculptures as if we in a huge aquarium.
What surprises me the sculptures are his expressions, his detailed hands, clothes, animals and furniture around them, but what I admire most is to see beneath the sea where human beauty we have yet live, in a way we do through these figures.
The intent of Jason and the museum staff is submerged underwater 400 works of art in a total of 4 square kilometers spread over four rooms, in Punta Nizuc, Manchones, La Carbonera in Isla Mujeres and Aristos Punta CancĂșn.
is important mention that each work is human scale, is mounted on a base of 4 square meters and screwed into a rock face while respecting the reef life. The weight of each sculpture ranges from one to three tons.
Among the museum plans to build a forum to present performances, shows and orchestras into the sea, plus there will be a visitors center where you can buy replicas of the sculptures.
I invite you to learn here that despite being under water is making noise.
